Adorable Beach Wedding Favors For Your Guests

By Denise Sanger

Planning a wedding on a beach? Enjoy the feeling of sand in your toes, and the sound of the waves as you walk down the aisle? If that is the case, then you are going to need some awesome beach favors to give to your guests! There are many adorable beach themed favors that won?t wipe out your wedding budget. Let us help you with a few beach favor ideas.

Are you looking for seashells, starfish, dolphins, or anything that directly relates to the beach? Place a mug on top of a cute starfish coaster. Hand out key chains with a little seashell connected. Lovely silver dolphin bottle openers are another appealing item that your guests will use again and again in their homes. Place your guests name into a cute little place card holder that can be a starfish, seashell, or little fish. There are even little tea lights that have adorable starfish on top.

Imagine this wedding reception setting - your guests? tables have a gorgeous white or blue table cloth on it. The centerpiece is comprised of several different beach themed items. In the center of the table there are four little starfish candles surrounding a seashell frame with an engagement picture of the gorgeous wedding couple. Each guest will be able to find their seat quickly by using sea life place card holders. Also on each table is a disposable camera in a seashell beach theme that allows the guests to take spontaneous snapshots of your guests and the fun they?re having at your beach wedding celebration. Your guests will feel relaxed as they enjoy this beach scene you?ve created just for them.

Want the beach feel, but less of the beach? Choose from fun, summer picnic at the beach inspired favors that include sailboats, lighthouses, sandals, and volleyballs. You can top your wine bottles with a volleyball bottle stoppers. How about candles that have little sailboats on them? Gorgeous frosted glass sailboat tea light holders would compliment any table top. Or throw a nice white table cloth onto your table and place palm tree candles at each guest?s seat. Not so big on candles? How about attractive lighthouse place card holders? These place card holders are a wonderful treat to give your guests! They can use this practical favor again at home to hold notes, recipes, and so much more.

If you prefer to give your guests their favor at the end of the reception or have them pick up their favors as they are leaving, place the favors in a group on a table near the exit door. You can mix and match several different beach themed favors so your guests can choose the favor they like the most. Practical favors such as cute little sea life cookie cutters, seashell bookmarks for those that enjoy a good read, key chains or bottle openers are great ideas for any type of goodie bag. And the best part is that all of the favors described are inexpensive little treats, that won?t kill your wallet but will make your guests remember your special day. So have that beach wedding you deserve and want, and don?t worry about overspending too much, at least not on the wedding favors.

Do I have to provide the guests with a wedding favor at my reception?
I’m having an informal reception a month after my destination wedding, and was wondering the protocol on providing favors for the guests. We are having 300 people at the reception.

You don’t have to, you’re not obligated, but it is done as a way to thank the guests for coming and helping celebrate your day. I’ve been to a few weddings and every one had some kind of favor the the guests.

If you do decide to give favors, they don’t have to be expensive or flashy.

I’ve seen little bags of hershey kisses with a note thanking the guests for coming, little plastic wineglasses filled with gummibears (brides favorite candy), little silver bells with the bride and grooms name and the date of the wedding on a ribbon tied to the bell. I’ve seen magnets with a picture of the couple on it saying thanks and the date of the wedding.

The favors are usually left at the table, just make sure there are enough favors for each couple invited or enough for each person to have one.

It’s a great stress reliever to put the favors together, it’s like “downtime” for the bride.

Me..I had the silver bells (bought in bulk) and ordered some silver and baby blue ribbon (wedding colors) and had my husbands and my name put on the ribbon and our wedding date…and then criss-crossed the ribbon on the bow, and glue-gunned the ribbon onto the bell. The guests loved them.
I also made my pew bows and such. Need some more help feel free to email me….

What should I call the two people who will stand at the door for my wedding reception and greet guests?
In addition to greeting guests, these people will make sure that guests sign the guest book, they will hand out favors, direct gift-givers to the gift table, and direct guests to their seats. However, they are not ushers as they do not physically show guests to their seats. I would like a unique/special way to address these two people on my wedding programs. Thanks.

  4. Jen says:

This is a new problem! People used to ask their friends to do certain things (manage the guestbook, serve punch) and didn’t give them a title because weddings didn’t have programs with cast lists.
Greeters seems like the best title. Some bad options spring to mind: guest wranglers, hall monitors, boss ladies, pit bosses, guest managers, assistant hostesses…

  5. march_hare_in_june says:

No, you don’t have to. Besides, depending on the length of your reception, the CD may not be able to hold every song that will be played.

Definitely include songs such as the song you walk into the reception hall to (if you have one), first dance, father/daughter dance, etc. Then, choose songs from the reception that are meaningful to you & your fiance ~ or the songs that you like the most.

  6. jaytayk says:

Am I supposed to put all of the music in order on the cd by how it is played at my wedding reception?
I am making them as favors for my wedding guests.
Should it be in order by entrance, first dance, then bridal dance, mother’s dances, cake cutting, etc…Then throw some other songs in there?

A candy buffet at wedding reception?
Have you ever been to a wedding reception where there was a candy buffet? Is the candy buffet in place of the wedding favors that would typically be put on the tables for the guests? I absolutely love the idea of a candy buffet, especially since *I* absolutely love candy. There will be a lot of children at our wedding and I figured that it would be a huge hit! :o ) What are your opinions on them? If you don’t know what it is, look it up!

I second giving away seeds, but just in a packet – it’s an awesome favour.

Any ideas for a summer-y, memorable favor to give at my wedding reception?
We’re getting married on 8/9/10 and I would like to give a memorable favor to my guests. Our color is yellow and I want the favor to be something summer-y. Also affordable!! Any ideas??

Wedding favors. Ideas for destination wedding and backyard home reception.?
We are getting married in June on board a ship in Juneau Alaska. I would like to give those coming along something special and appropriate to our destination. Also we are having a backyard reception when we get home. There will be 300+ guests. I would like to somehow tie together our wedding with our reception (we are early in the planning process). Also the background at the wedding will be an icy blue. Wha colors would correspond? Help! :)
Correction: about 25-30 guests at the wedding and 300+ at the backyard bbq reception

  12. Who? says:

What are your colors? You can do all kinds of candies in your wedding colors!! I think that will be soo cute! Very neat idea :-) You can go to http://www.yuni.com for little love poems. It’s a very good site and it won’t disappoint. Here’s an idea too. For my hubby one year, I made him a candy bucket with suckers that I had attatched little sayings and stuff to them. I did things like wrote I love you in different languages, mini poems, cheesy movie lines, anything to catch the mood.

Edit: JM, what weddings did you go to? Are the people as stuck up as you?? She didn’t ask you and the other people who had negative stuff to say about whether or not you thought the idea was good. She asked if you had any ideas as to how to carry it out. Geez, get a life and stop making people feel bad about what they are doing!!
    I love the idea!

  13. Stacey says:

I like the chocolate covered pretzel idea. I’d do the big pretzle rods, you could even put sprinkles over the chocolate. Mmmm. Or different colors of chocolate. Joanne Fabrics has kits to make these where you can even do different designs.

Another idea would be caramel apples.

  14. Kazleberry says:

personally, i would not buy wedding favours for my guests for that exact reason. buying 80 crappy little somethings that nobody even wants is a massive waste of money. my sister had a wonderful idea for her wedding.
she got small ivory silk bags with the guests name printed on a tag and inside the bag placed 2 heart-shaped chocolates with red wrappings (her colours were red and ivory). it looked gorgeous and stylish.
these bonbonnieres served as place cards and favors, and really a few choccies will be far more appreciated by the guests than some tacky gift that will either be in the bin tomorrow or serve as clutter for their homes.

  15. sniffydogs says:

I love Alaska! Juneau is gorgeous!

I would go with silver, white and green with the blue. Remember in the summer it’s light 24 hours a day there!

I’d skip the favors entirely. It’s a waste of your precious time and valuable resources. Most people will leave them. Maybe make some prints of the sights and scenery of Alaska. Most people have never been there.

  16. Mrs! says:

Candy “bar” at my wedding reception. What are some cute says i can put on the table or on the candy bags for..
the guests. I am going to have a table set up with lots of different jars of all kinds of candy sort of like a buffet were guests at any point in the night can take the bag that is provided at the reception table and fill it with their favorite candy from the candy bar. I was going to have rock candy, chocolate, lollipops, etc. I am going to put the candy bag on the table with the other wedding favors and wanted to know if any of you had any ideas of a cute poems or saying i can attach to the bag with ribbon to let guests know what the bag is for and how the candy bar works. Any suggestions, ideas or cute sayings i could attach to the bags? I am planning on attaching a nice small card with ribbon to the bag and plan on putting the saying there. Where the candy bar is located i am going to put our names and this
    Jessica & Aaron’s
    Sweet shop
    Thanks (sorry for the novel)
For anyone with anything rude to say…i didn’t ask your opinion on what i am doing..i asked for ideas on what the candy bar bags should say. So thanks for not even answering the question at hand. For everyone else that answered the questions like an adult and left great feedback, thank you! Secondly i am doing two other favors for my guests this is not so much a favor as something additional and fun and unique. We are having a very classy and traditional wedding and i do not think having a fun and unique candy bar at our nice wedding makes anything juvenile. All the candy bars I’ve seen have been a very nice classy weddings and is done very tastefully. What i think is juvenile is being so rude and going out of your way to insult someone like a child. If you are not going to answer the question and have nothing nice to say, that like the old adage, don’t say anything at all!

What favors for a november wedding?
Im on a tight budget! Were having a private reception after our wedding for immediate family and bridal attendants only. I would love to have wedding favors available for the wedding guests to have when the wedding is over so it isnt as rude seeming to not have them at the reception. Any ideas would be appreciated. So far im thinking about chocalate covered pretzels in a Little cute favor bag.

  18. kroddin says:

What kind of liquor would be good to serve at a wedding reception?
I am not much of a drinker, so I really don’t know what to offer. Since my mother is paying for the reception, she does not really want a hard liquor. I am passing out personalized shot glasses as favors, so I would like one or two different types of liquor to be served. What would be a good suggestion for shots? (we will of course have beer, wine and champagne, but I want the guests to be able to use the shot glasses…if they want)

  19. felonymelanie says:

Still proper wedding etiquette to give a favor?
I’m trying to decide on what to set out for my guests at the wedding reception. I’m wondering if I even need to give them. Do people still do wedding favors? Alot of favors I get at weddings are lame and I end up throwing them away anyway. I don’t want to look cheap, but I also don’t feel like spending hundreds of dollars on stuff my guests are just going to chuck or leave at the reception.

  20. Chris says:

One of the 4 Well drinks are a must. Vodka, Rum, Gin and Whiskey. Or go with 2 of them. Most people will drink vodka and rum mixed drinks so go with those.
